Mixing materials and textures has always been something we’ve pushed in footwear.
A few years ago, while traveling through China and Japan looking for new fabrics, I came across a place dedicated to tweed, but it was only being used for clothing.
The challenge was figuring out how to bring that material into footwear. Tweed behaves differently, and it took countless samples and a lot of trial and error to get it right.
The GF-01 became the starting point, the perfect silhouette to bring this vision to life. It allowed us to showcase the material, and once we got it right, the details spoke for themselves.
What started as an experiment on the GF-01 has now evolved even further. We’ve taken everything we learned and applied it to the 004, continuing to push how this material can live and perform in footwear.
